Rachel Comey RTW Fall 2012 Collection

First Review of NYFW 2012 - Rachel Comey

Although Fashion Week didn't officially start until today, a few collections were shown yesterday from designers such as Jil Sanders Navy, Hyden Yoo, Steven Alan, DKNY Men and of course - the above mentioned designer - Rachel Comey.
Rachel Comey's RTW Fall 2012 collection eluded print and pattern to pave the way for a collection of LBDs, classic silhouettes in neutral shades, and full skirts with a shiny plastic finish.
If you are a follower of the designer due to her usual quirky prints, colour and textures then don't fret! The designer included some colourful punches during the show through appearances of tangerine skirts and a 3/4 length sleeve coat, as well as pale pink and lilac floral tie dye prints and a repeat pattern of coral love hearts in knee length dresses.

Personally, my favourite pieces were these beauties:

What I love about the collection as a whole is the edgy, feminine vs masculine feel that it gives off.
For example, the grey tailored 'boyfriend' fit blazer over white ankle grazer trousers and white shirt give the outfit a smart, masculine look whilst keeping the feminine feel through the ankle length trouser and soft edges on the shirt.
The collection appeals to me personally, because each look is simple but quirky and is just so transferable to the high street and everyday wear, that you could easily recreate the looks yourself if you don't quite have the budget to buy the original pieces.
Each of the 39 looks that came down the runway are so effortlessly cool, stylish and wearable - a result of the designers maturing design vision and overall, I feel that Rachel Comey's collection was the perfect start to the week.

If the other designers showcasing this week are as good as this, then I do believe that we are in for a treat!

Leave your comments below with your own opinions for the above mentioned collection - I'd love to hear from you! xo
